The last three times my current client's production SPS installation has had "problems", the resolution has always been with the SQL server. Now, some of the issues aren't easily explained, so there is some further work here. It's a "Medium Server Farm" configuraiton.
Anyway, my new mantra for SPS troubleshooting: It's the database, Stupid!
