Do you need to know programming to be a Sharepoint admin?

i am going to be eventually building sharepoint servers and doing configurations as an admin. my question is, do i need to know programming to do admin stuff? i am not a programmer and i think it will be a problem cuz i never was a good programmer in the past when i took some classes years ago. any advice appreciated! thanks.
