Moving Site Within A Sharepoint Server Issues
Posted: 08 Jan 08 12:05 PM

Ok, so I have turned into the Sharepoint guru for my office (though I am by no means a guru) and I'm trying to fix some things that were created when the site was new and people were still experimenting.  We have a nice page burried in the site that needs to be on the forefront of the site, the main opening default page.  I have tried to move it using Sharepoint Designer but with no luck, here is how I attempted it.  FYI: I have Sharepoint WSS 3.0

My supervisor wanted me to move a site because it wasn't showing up on the top link bar.  From what I can tell the site is already directly under the main page so I just made a link to it on top of the bar. This is fine and gives him what he wants in terms of that. However, if you hit "home" on the main page it doesn't go back to hom but to that single site's home page.  We have another page that is far down a hierarchy of pages which does the same thing.

Can you simply modify that home link to where you want it to go?

Also, when originally trying to move it my supervisor made a new page which has subsites and which I apparently screwed up a little with Sharepoint Designer.  It really just needs to be deleted but it won't let me simply delete it because it has subsites.  I dont have MOSS so I can't use the option it offers to delete sites like that.  Is there a way to get around this?  I can't go into the page and delete the subsites because Sharepoint acts like it can't find it.  It is listed though on the Sharepoint site (though I at least took it off the quick launch bar).

Thanks.
